These are skills we cannot record on our resume even though we know we have them. Let us look at some of these skills that are considered as vital and important to demonstrate for any potential employer.
To begin, we consider punctuality. If you are an habitual late comer and continuously running behind, then it is clear that you are not suitable for the job. Being punctual is a skill that must be developed and maintained in order to prove your reliability. No one wants to employ an individual who misses deadlines, meetings and schedule engagements because of lateness. An habitual late comer not only loses integrity but also his dependability.
If you are a well-organized person, then this should reflect not only on your resume, but in arriving for your scheduled interview. Turn up fifteen to twenty minutes before your scheduled time, ensure that your attendance is acknowledged then keep in mind your goal – getting the job.
Another vital skill is discipline. A disciplined individual respects time; his time and that of others. Employers often make remarks about the ‘great candidate but the wrong fit’. A great candidate will have all the right certifications, top academic awards but lacks the skills for employment. Being disciplined gives us the edge of conducting ourselves in a professional and respectful manner in following rules and regulations in any organization. Failing to follow simple rules laid out throughout the interview could result in losing that job opportunity.
